[RAKETA and Midori Mitamura]
The artist group RAKETA from Stockholm has developed many projects for dialogues with places, crossing over diverse expressive styles through journeys for years. Their special quality can be seen in their particularly sophisticated ability of compilations. They collect and compile various elements in poetic and humorous ways that are lightly controlled by the excellent capability of visuals.
RAKETA and Mitamura have been inspiring and relating their expressions to each other, through their friendship since 2000. Midori Mitamura’s site-specific art project ”Art & Breakfast” was born at the studio of RAKETA in 2006. The atmosphere of Stockholm and RAKETA’s flexible presentations inspired Mitamura to develop her style for free combinations of materials found at the place.
For this opportunity, RAKETA # TOKYO 2018 including Mitamura, produce a new film work ”ORBITS AROUND A (NOMADIC) ARCHIVE”. Assembling each moment they captured freely while traveling at the same time, RAKETA and Mitamura discover another view of the journey that belongs to none of them.

ストックホルムのアーティストグループ・RAKETAは、様々な表現方法を横断する制作スタイルで、旅を通して場所と対話するプロジェクトを長年にわたり展開し続けています。その特徴は洗練された独自の編集センスにあります。集められた要素は多岐に渡りながらも、際立ったビジュアル感覚で軽やかにコントロールされ、詩的でユーモラスにまとめあげられています。
RAKETAと三田村光土里は、互いの表現に共感と刺激を与えながら、2000年から長年の交友関係を温めてきました。
三田村光土里の滞在制作プロジェクトArt & Breakfast は、2006年にRAKETAのスタジオで始まりました。場所にあるものを組み合わせて自由に制作するスタイルは、ストックホルムの空気感と、こうした彼らの柔軟なプレゼンテーションにインスパイアされて生み出されました。
今回、三田村を加えたRAKETA # TOKYO 2018は 映像作品 ”ORBITS AROUND A (NOMADIC) ARCHIVE” を発表します。それぞれが移動を続けながら、互いの旅の地で遭遇する瞬間を自在につなぎ合わせ、誰のものでもない新たな旅の情景を作り出して行きます。

RAKETA is the art institution based in Stockholm that works interdisciplinary, in theory and practice, with projects in the area between art, architecture, philosophy & social/political reflexion in the widest sense. For posing questions about the world and everything around us, RAKETA has, since the year 2000, initiated and developed a long series of projects - locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. RAKETA has extensive artistic and technical expertise in managing interdisciplinary collaborations to realize complex projects consisting of exhibitions, performances, seminars, round-tables, workshops, productions, lectures etc. They expanded in 2005 with RAKETA _ PRESS, an independent publisher producing books, magazines, fanzines and other printed matters in various shapes and formats. RAKETA _ PRESS joined THE TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR 2017 and will also join the fair in spring 2019.
